About Us

On Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park, a few steps from the Atlantic, sits a concrete block building that has launched careers, hosted legends, and kept the spirit of the Jersey Shore alive for five decades. The Stone Pony opened in 1974 and became the club where Bruce Springsteen turned local gigs into mythology. That history isn't just a plaque on the wall, it's in the grain of the stage and the sightlines of a room built for real live music.

The venue runs the way a music club should: the floor is close to the stage, the sound is loud and direct, and the crowd comes because they actually care about the band. With a 4.6-star rating across more than 3,300 reviews, the reputation holds. On any given Thursday through Sunday, you might catch an emerging act, a touring headliner, or a summer outdoor show on the back deck with the ocean breeze doing its thing.

This isn't a nostalgia trap. The Stone Pony books real shows for real fans, keeps ticket prices honest, and maintains the kind of room where a $78 ticket to see the Turnpike Troubadours feels like a bargain. The bar is on the floor, the vibe is unfiltered, and the music is always the point.

What We Offer

The Stone Pony runs a full calendar of live music events spanning rock, Americana, country, and everything in between. Indoor shows take place in the main room, an intimate standing-floor venue where no seat is far from the stage. Summer brings the Summer Stage, an outdoor concert series on the oceanside lot that draws national headliners and gives Asbury Park one of the best outdoor concert settings on the East Coast.

Beyond concerts, the Pony operates as a full-service bar with a strong selection of draft beers and cocktails. The venue is also available for private events and can accommodate a range of group bookings. The box office and merch area are open Thursday through Sunday, 12:00 to 5:00 PM, making it easy to pick up tickets in person or grab gear before a show. Check the online calendar at stoneponyonline.com for the latest lineups, because shows sell out and the schedule moves fast.

"Just stopped in here briefly to look around while a show was going on. Definitely a bucket list place to visit if you're going to be in the area considering all the amazing musicians that have been here over the years."

"It was OK tbh. I know it's iconic but the massive bars on the side of the floor kinda kill the vibe for me since there's no separation between the drinks & the floor. Ppl are constantly walking byte grt drinks as you try to watch & listen to the show. The bathroom situation isn't ideal. And visibility is poor prior to sunset. The only reason I didn't give this 2 or 1 star was because the show was great & acoustics were very good so it's a mixed bag but definitely not my first choice for a venue."

"I don’t go to many concerts due to ticket prices. We had 2 tickets to see Turnpike Troubadors last Saturday for $78 a piece. The doors were set to open at 6 with the openers starting at 7. I received an email at 5:49pm that the doors were now opening at 5:45pm with Turnpike starting at 6:30 and no openers due to weather. When I walked up at about 6:45ish everyone was leaving the venue. Cancelled due to potential weather that didn’t come through til 8:30 pm. Ticketmaster can’t do anything cause technically it “happened” and I cannot get in touch with the venue to inquire about it. Their voicemail box is full conveniently. Very confused about where all the money went including mine for an event that didn’t happen."
